On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Festival of Lights and 30 years of the Peaceful Revolution, the Nikolaiquarter transformed into a very special gallery under the motto “Signs of Freedom”. With selected light art objects, the quarter in the centre of Berlin set a sign for freedom and diversity. Pursuit of Freedom was an installation consisting of five steals on which countless hands symbolized the grip on freedom. The Koralic Globe in Rathausstraße stood for the union of nature and universe and pointed to the fragility of freedom. The installation Eyecatcher represented the curious gaze that wants to recognize the backgrounds. Five pairs of floating eyes looked out for the freedom we all strive for. The story of the Buddhist quest for happiness, lightness and personal freedom was told by the Lanterns on the church square. The Strings of Freedom could be admired in Reinhardt’s courtyard. Further installations lured into the cradle of Berlin and enjoyed great popularity.
