The Federal President’s official residence in Berlin was represented at the Festival of Lights in 2017. For the first time, video mappings were projected onto the front facade of Bellevue Palace. The Federal President offered a special award worth 2,000 euros on the topic of democracy. Video mapping artists from all over the world were invited to realise their ideas and visions of democracy in sound and vision. What ideas the applicants had and how they realised them was a surprise for visitors to the festival. The projection was opened by Federal President Steinmeier on 6 October 2017 at 9.00 pm. The video mappings were then shown every evening until 8 October 2017. Visitors were able to vote for their personal favourite. Here is the intro mapping for the competition.

Visitors to Charlottenburg Palace were delighted by spectacular 3D video mappings. And magical art from very young up-and-coming artists. The youngest was 2 years old and was part of a group of children who showed their ideas of diversity with projected drawings at Charlottenburg Palace. Among the children’s artists this year were guests from the Björn Schulz Foundation. Together with educators and carers, the children with life-limiting illnesses conjured up colourful images in 3D shows created by RE:SORB (Germany), Segal Media (Iran) and MP-STUDIO (BGR).

The productions at Charlottenburg Palace were made possible by Netflix and the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, among others, which was also represented with its own video show on the subject of diversity. The beauty of Taiwan shone artistically on the imposing palace facade with stunning impressions.

Various art motifs of the artist team RE:SORB from Berlin transform the beautiful baroque castle Köpenick with its art and craft treasures into a special destination. The 3D mapping lets the castle facade transform, stones break out and reinsert themselves, a unique, three-minute show in a class of its own.
