„Free your Energy“ Street Art Challenge presented by E.ON
With the Hotel de Rome, one of the oldest and most renowned hotels in Berlin became the premiere location of the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS Street Art Challenge by presenter E.ON. Under the motto “Free your Energy”, 14 renowned street art artists from 14 countries put their interpretations on canvas. Their works were admired as projections on the façade of the Hotel de Rome throughout the festival period.

Belgium– DZIA
Dzia, who was classically trained at the Royal Academy in Antwerp with a master of fine arts, mainly depicts wild animals – foxes and birds seem to be recurring favorites. His unique style creates a mosaic of colors that follows the contours of the animal form.

Croatia– OKO
OKO’s paintings, murals and installations have been shown in galleries and museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and E-Flux in New York. She shows many of her projects in public spaces and her work is part of the urban street culture.

Germany– MadC
MadC was born Claudia Walde in Germany in 1980. During 21 years of constant involvement with graffiti and street art, she has worked her way up from a teenager who started with a spray can to one of the world’s best street artists. She has studied graphic design at two universities and published three books on street art.

Hungary– Fat Heat
Fat Heat was born in a small town in Hungary. He got hooked in 1998 when mysterious and colorful letters appeared on a few walls, just a few blocks from my house. He had instantly fallen in love. In love with the colors, the enormous sizes and the crazy energy that these images transmitted.

Italy– Peeta
Peeta, also known as Manuel Di Rita, has been a graffiti artist since 1993 and currently lives in Venice. He is a member of the EAD crew (Padova, Italy), FX and RWK crew (New York City) and over the years has participated in jams, festivals and art shows around the world. His work explores the potential of sculptural lettering and anamorphism in both painting and sculpture.

Huge, is Daniel Fahlström aka a spray artist who started painting graffiti in the mid-80s and now mainly paints with airbrush. Today he works from his studio in Älta near Stockholm, unless he paints walls all over the country. In the process, Huge has become known as the “balloon artist”.
