6. Nikolai Quarter – Former Kaufhaus Israel
Video staging “Simply magical” |
Duration approx. 2 minutes
Step into the Nikolaiviertel, the birthplace of Berlin, and experience the Festival of Lights as a place full of secrets. A dark alley in an old enchanted city, where magical creatures and scenes reminiscent of Harry Potter come to life.
The façade of the former Kaufhaus Israel, the gateway to the Nikolaiviertel with its charming streets lined with interesting shops, cafés, and restaurants, showcases a video installation that transports viewers into a mystical in-between world. Suddenly, a majestic white owl floats in and lands on an old sign. Its gaze, clear and all-knowing, seems to answer our questions before we even ask. A mysterious man, cloaked in a long coat and wearing a pointed hat, steps out of the shadows. But as quickly as he appears, he vanishes again, and the alley sinks back into darkness. “Simply magical.”
