8. Nikolai Quarter – Wappenbrunnen

Colourful illumination glows in the Nikolai Quarter at the Wappenbrunnen, which is located directly at the Kirchplatz.

The staging of the Wappenbrunnen as well as the surrounding group of trees on the Nikolaikirchplatz  is an absolute premiere at the Festival of Lights and in the Nikolai Quarter. Colourful accents highlight the ensemble. The fountain was placed in 1987 to commemorate the founding of the city. The 8 coats of arms refer to the four trades of Berlin and Cölln: butchers, bakers, shoemakers and clothiers. The originals of these arms can be found in the Berlin records of 1442 and 1448.
