Ross Ashton
United Kingdom
Ashton was born in Sheffield in 1961. After training in photography and theater, he moved to London and began working with video and slide projections. After four years in Paris, where he explored various visual media, he specialized in high-power projections in 1992.
His years of experience have given him an instinctive understanding of the relationship between artwork and structure, light and surface, object and subject. The scale and scope of his work led to commissions for both standalone pieces and large-scale shows designed and created for national and international audiences. His specially commissioned “son et lumière” performances have garnered worldwide attention.
His reputation for spectacular large-scale projects has led to him creating projections for governments around the world for commemorative events. He has also collaborated with other artists and lighting designers, contributing to productions ranging from rock and roll shows to classical concerts and theater performances. His expertise has been sought after for numerous film and television productions.
Throughout his career, his works have been seen by millions of people and are always thought-provoking, moving, and exciting.
