The Official World Championship of Projection Mapping
For many years, the Festival of Lights has been showing breathtaking video mappings on the historic buildings of the German capital. The productions, which actively incorporate the architecture of the buildings, fascinate visitors and fans from all over the world and make up the special charm of the Festival of Lights.
Since 2015, the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF PROJECTION MAPPING has also been an integral part of the Festival of Lights. Here, the best video mapping artists in the world compete against each other and present their visions on world-famous landmarks. At the end, one of the artists is chosen as the winner by the audience.
In addition to creative themes, the international artists are offered a new building each year to stage their mapping. In the first year, the World Championship took place on the city’s most significant landmark, the Branderburger Tor. In 2015, Germany’s tallest building, the TV Tower, was the venue and last year the Berlin Cathedral was used for this program highlight.
We are proud to host the competition again on the TV Tower in 2019. Below you will find an overview of all past and this year’s World Championships:
