COLOURS OF LIFE was the motto of the 19th FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS Berlin. An impressive 3D video mapping show by four outstanding artist studios from four different countries was presented on the most famous Berlin landmark, the Brandenburg Gate.

2022

VISION OF OUR FUTURE was the motto of the 18th FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS Berlin. Meaningful images by several artists powerfully bundled the message of the future on the most famous of Berlin’s landmarks, the Brandenburg Gate. Among others, three renowned Ukrainian video studios were invited. They created their visions for the future exclusively for the festival.

The motto “Lights of Freedom” reflected 30 years of peaceful revolution. This year, in keeping with the festival motto “Connecting Cultures,” the Brandenburg Gate was transformed into a place where diverse cultures meet. The word “love” could be read on the Berlin landmark in all the languages of the world. As a symbol of peaceful unity and a successful connection of different cultures, the Brandenburg Gate thus perfectly reflected this year’s motto “Connecting Cultures.” The staging was designed by Birgit Zander – artistic director of the festival – together with Daniel Bandke.
