The 20th festival under the sign of freedom
In 2024, we will celebrate our 20th birthday and freedom – because what better way to celebrate 35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall?
That’s why the 20th Festival of Lights is all about it. Freedom in Berlin, in Europe and in many countries around the world. But also the freedom that we wish for all the people who still have to dream of it.
With the anniversary edition of the Festival of Lights, we tell big and small stories about the freedom that makes Berlin a vibrant metropolis of creativity, confidence and joie de vivre with spectacular, breathtaking light art. Experience the capital literally in a completely different light and look forward to an unprecedented variety of colorful, captivating and literally glowing productions on the capital’s most famous and popular buildings.
Concert highlight: Paul van Dyk in the Berlin Cathedral
On October 8 and 9, 2024, the Berlin Cathedral will be the setting for a unique musical and visual experience: Paul van Dyk presents ‘Escape Reality’ in collaboration with the Festival of Lights Berlin.
In this world premiere, Paul van Dyk will reinterpret highlights of his extraordinary career in an exclusive ambient live set. Listeners can look forward to an impressive light and video installation in the sanctuary of the imposing Berlin Cathedral, which perfectly sets the scene for the musical journey.
We are incredibly proud to present this exceptional artist as a program highlight in our 20th Festival of Lights and to be able to frame the unique music of Paul van Dyk with our light art productions.
