Vanessa Cardui, born in 1987, is a Berlin based video artist. She completed her master’s degree in art and media at Universität Hildesheim & Université de Provence. Vanessa Cardui creates imaginary worlds, mostly out of paper, and brings her characters to life with stop motion – animation. In her video projections, video installations and video performances, she looks for new ways to make video art visible in urban spaces. Vanessa Cardui deals with the topics of environmental protection and sustainability and questions what it means to be human and woman in times of change. Her video works are exhibited internationally, including the Digital Graffiti Festival in Florida (2024), the Animation Nights New York (2024), the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá (2024), the Festival of Lights Berlin (2023), the Festival of Science – Goethe Institute Bangkok (2023), the Future Vision Festival in Tokyo and Amsterdam (2023), the Athens Digital Art Festival (2022), the Venice Architecture Film Festival (2021), the European Film Festival Göttingen (2021) and the international festival for audiovisual projection Genius Loci Weimar (2021).
