On the historic facade of the Humboldt University, light becomes a voice for one of our most precious values. Softly shimmering sparks build up in bold letters to form the promise of the Basic Law: “Art and science, research and teaching shall be free.” The architecture itself begins to glow and vibrate. A powerful artistic statement for open-mindedness, democracy, and the unyielding freedom of the human spirit.
The second show – a visual journey beneath the ocean’s surface – reveals how climate change and plastic pollution threaten marine life. This impressive video by WWF, which already thrilled audiences at this year’s Festival of Lights in Zagreb, accompanies scientists and fishers in their efforts to protect fragile coral reefs and seagrass meadows as rising temperatures and waste transform the underwater world.
