Festival of Lights Zwickau

May 1, 2018, marked the 900th anniversary of Zwickau’s first documented mention, kicking off a very special week of celebrations. The FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS, as the centerpiece of the festivities, treated the city to a truly extraordinary experience.

From 8:00 p.m. to midnight, light installations, video projections, and video mapping transformed around 20 buildings into a luminous display of history. In this way, the city’s history came to life in public spaces in a whole new way and was creatively reinterpreted! Residents and visitors alike were thrilled and will cherish vivid memories of this anniversary for years to come. Scenes spanning nine centuries, famous figures, and simply stunning light displays created a magical atmosphere that invited visitors on an unforgettable journey through time.

From May 1 to 5, 2018, visitors had the opportunity to experience Zwickau in a whole new light. City tours, short readings, and concerts rounded out Zwickau’s radiant festival week.
