Napa Lighted Art Festival 2020

This year, the stunning Napa Lighted Art Festival took place from January 11 to 19. 16 of Napa’s legendary buildings were uniquely illuminated. Friday’s Lantern Parade took the festival to a new level of connectedness in the love of lighted art. It was a wonderful, peaceful gathering for people from all over the world.

Once again, picturesque Napa shone in glorious light from January 12-20, 2019. During the 9-day festival, iconic architecture became a painting as part of a unique illuminated art walk. Original artwork by local and international artists was installed at approximately 16 locations in Downtown Napa, the Oxbow District and other locations throughout the city. The Napa Lighted Art Festival supported the innovative techniques using light and technologies as a cultural substrate and is a celebration of creative arts and light. Artworks exhibited at the 2018 Napa Lighted Art Festival included light art, video art, 3D video map projections, illuminated sculptures, and projects that use technology or interactivity.

The FESTIVALS OF LIGHTS team from Berlin was especially pleased to be part of the Napa Lighted Art Festival again in 2019. Due to the enthusiasm of the audience after the North American premiere in December 2017, the team from the German capital presented its video projection “Language of Love” for the second time at the request of the organizer.

“Language of Love”, expressed in breathtaking illuminations, is a light art concept by Birgit Zander and celebrated its premiere at the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS in Berlin, projected onto one of the most famous landmarks, the Berlin Cathedral. Birgit Zander wanted to create a symbol for the great meaning of love and the connection of people and cultures.

Napa Lighted Art Festival 2017

For the first time, visitors enjoyed a spectacular new art event called the Napa Lighted Arts Festival. This lighted art walk illuminated the streets, buildings, and night sky of Napa as art sparkled in lights on nearby buildings and homes. Festival curators hoped the event would showcase the innovation of lighting technology and its role in today’s art scene.

The art festival included nine original artworks commissioned from individual artists and consisted of light installations displayed around Downtown Napa and the Oxbow District. Some of the featured artwork also included interactive music. The free, open-air festival took place December 9-17, 2017 and was a huge success!
