Light installation “Lumisphere”

This year, the centrally located Marx-Engels-Forum returns to the spotlight of the Festival of Ligths. We are celebrating a premiere: The Berlin artist collective RE:SORB will interpret this historic square in a spectacular way with the installation “Lumisphere”.

‘Lumisphere’ creates a poetic glimpse into a distant place that yet feels strangely familiar. It is a state between aliveness and the hypothetical life after death. The installation by Berlin-based artist Stefan Ihmig entangles its viewers in a kaleidoscope of holographic forms that are constantly changing and reshaping themselves. These ethereal constructs of light bridge the gap between reality and illusion, creating an environment that reflects the ebb and flow of conscious clarity and spiritual uplift. The further one penetrates this luminous landscape, the more one is drawn to an irresistible, luminous allure – an echo of the threshold of mortality. These sensory impressions resonate on a deep, emotional level; they evoke tears, conjure prayers, and awaken what feels like a memory, a shared universal essence that unites humanity in its entirety.
Created from the primal elements of water and light, this exhibition takes the viewer on a circular journey with no discernible beginning or end.
