Autumn is here and will once again transform Augsburg’s city centre into a very special open-air work of art for three days as part of the Light Nights: As darkness falls, light installations and animations in a wide variety of colours and shapes will attract thousands of visitors every day for a unique stroll through Augsburg’s city centre.

More information on the 2023 cultural programme can be found on the Augsburg City website.

The Light Nights 2023 will take place from 21 to 23 October.

The focal point of the Light Nights will be the Rathausplatz: on the façade of the town hall we will alternately show different 3D video mappings. Shapes and contours change permanently, Augsburg celebrities and well-known Augsburg buildings merge with the town hall.

This year, the Light Nights Augsburg are dedicated to the Holl anniversary, which celebrates the 450th birthday of Elias Holl, one of the most important German architects of the 17th century. Augsburg’s characteristic cityscape was significantly influenced by his architectural works. Important buildings such as the Town Hall, the Perlachturm, the Neues Bau and the former Latin School of St. Anna’s Grammar School will therefore be brought into special focus and illuminated during the Light Nights.

There will also be many other illuminations and a 3D video mapping on the façade of the City Hall. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to admire video mappings on the Königsbau and in the Annahof in all their colours.
